Kern Regional Center

A Supportive, Flexible Experience for Your Child.

At the Bakersfield School of Art & Music, we have extensive experience working with students of all abilities, including those with autism, ADHD, and other developmental differences. Our team is trained in adaptive teaching strategies, and we have an on-staff educational psychologist who helps guide our approach to student learning and support.

We understand that every child learns differently, and our goal is to create a space where students feel comfortable, supported, and able to grow at their own pace.

We work with many Kern Regional Center families and know that getting started can sometimes feel overwhelming. We’re here to help guide you through the process and make things as simple as possible.

Getting Started For Service Coordinators

1. We work with a variety of FMS services

Begin by requesting your lessons through your charter school. Once your charter approves the request, they will send us a certificate or funding authorization.

2. We Process Your Certificate

After we receive your certificate, we apply the lesson credit to your account.

3. We Send You a Scheduling Code

Once everything is processed, we’ll send you a scheduling code.

Your scheduling code contains the lesson credit from your charter certificate. You’ll use it to book lessons through our online calendar, where you can view teacher availability, schedule new lessons, and reschedule or cancel existing ones.

Booking Your Private Lesson

The first time booking can feel a little confusing, which is completely normal. Once your code is ready, we’ll send you a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

In general, booking works like this:

  1. Go to the lesson catalogue

  2. Select your subject

  3. Choose lesson length and level

  4. Select a teacher

  5. Choose a date and time

  6. Enter your information

  7. At checkout, enter your scheduling code under Package, Gift, or Coupon Code

If you don’t see a time that works, text us. We can often help with special availability not listed online.

Recurring Weekly Lessons

Once you find a teacher and time that works well for your family, you can request to be added to our Recurring Register.

This means your student will have an automatically reserved weekly lesson time, so you won’t need to book online each week.

Your code provides you the ability to register for as many group classes as you like for no limit, and is valid for the entire month. Lessons are TRULY UNLIMITED. It’s important that you register for classes you intend to visit, as it makes sure that we have enough materials for all students.
